OLGA BOOKISH BANGLES: YULIA

This is a YULIA’S BANGLE: the one I made for a heroine of THE SEASON by Yulia Ravvina.

Yulia – a character of the book – is a writer. She is a bright and talented girl. She falls in love with a bright and talented guy who is a writer too)) Everything should be wonderful: being inspired by him and his novels she writes a love story trying to describe the one she loves so deeply. Unexpectedly, her boyfriend becomes angry and drives mad from jealousy. Being absolutely sure that he cannot be good enough for her, he decides that she described and loved someone else. After a serious quarrel (an emotional person, he doesn’t let her say a word) he breaks up with her and leaves for Crimea to become the best version of himself and prove her that he is better than “the rival” that exists only in his imagination.

The heroine feels despair. She feels as if one part of her own soul (or body) has separated from another to compete and to impress it. She feels as if she has been wounded and bleeding. Being left by her love, she starts to work as a guide on boats that travel down the rivers and channels of St. Petersburg. The stunning architecture of the city and funny moments shared with tourists, captains and guides amuse her but cannot distract from pain. She has one wish. Him. To return.

That’s why I decorated my new bangle with butterflies thinking about Psyche who went to the world of shadows to bring her love back. Life cannot be happy and complete without love: everything seems to be only a shadow including your own body and soul. All that the heroine wants is to stop this war and competition and to be together with her beloved one.

I hope you’ll appreciate my new “bookish” bangle))) It has a special meaning for me as I am playing Yulia and wearing this bangle during our new THE SEASON performance)) The first performance will be held in the human rights organization MEMORIAL on September 25. I am looking forward to it!
