ART OR SPORT: IS THAT A QUESTION?)))

Dostoevsky Day in St. Petersburg)))

The wonderful space of New Holland, the sun, which we have not seen in Petersburg for a long time, green lawns, music, painted faces of the actors that perform on the avenues and lawns of the park right in the crowd of spectators… What a wonderful idea!

It is unfortunate that the event was customarily concentrated only on the themes set by Dostoevsky in the 19th century. While the moving of the annual Dostoevsky Day from Kuznechny Lane to New Holland, which happened because of the FIFA World Cup, could give organizers and artists the opportunity to enrich their performances with themes and emotions that touch everyone now. These days people think mostly about football)))

Just imagine the effect of giant KUKFO puppets visiting any football match or a fan zone. Imagine a football team consisted of heroes by Dostoevsky or Fyodor Mikhailovich himself as an arbiter running around the field (the green lawns of New Holland seem to have been specially created for this). It would be funny to see Raskolnikov trying to score a goal with the help of an ax or football players playing with Dostoevsky’s characters. What an inspiring cheerleading team could be formed of Dostoevsky’s famous “femmes fatales”!

It is sad that people of art and sportsmen are so isolated from each other. The immense sport energy being enriched by the means of art would do remarkably good things. Meanwhile art, drawing inspiration not only in the past, would experience a real burst of energy. The lonely one never wins. I deeply feel Albert Camus’ words:

"Ce que je sais de plus sûr à propos de la moralité et des obligations des hommes, c'est au sport que je le dois".

He was not only a writer, but also a goalkeeper. Art and sports have a lot in common. I dream about the day when people will notice this)))
